Soap for Hope
Hope and Comfort Inc.
Hope and Comfort receives requests weekly from children’s organizations and schools. These requests tell the stories of hundreds of young people who are unable to obtain personal care products. These young people are embarrassed to go to school. They are disengaged from social activities and separate themselves from their friends and mentors. They suffer through days of embarrassment and isolation simply because they do not have access to toiletries. Supplying basic items like a bar of soap or a tube of deodorant can help improve the health and self-esteem of a young person in need.
In an effort to help young people thrive at school and beyond, Hope and Comfort is introducing the Soap for Hope program to get critical personal care products to youth in Boston and its surrounding towns. Monthly, Hope and Comfort works with children’s organizations and schools to provide toiletries kits filled with items that a child needs to feel healthy and clean: soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. In addition to distributing products, partner organizations teach young people about the importance of good hygiene and appropriate product use, inspiring health and confidence long term.
